The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

This Internship is located in the Strategic Air Operations Center (SAOC) of the Air Transport Service at the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy.

The Intern will work under the direct supervision of Head of the Situational Awareness unit in the SAOC, which operates the Satellite Tracking System and all associated data bases.

The Internship is for 6 months. Two (2) post is available.

Responsibilities

Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in UNGSC, and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall.

Within delegated authority, the Intern will be performing the following duties:

• Support to SAOC team members with data cleaning from primary or secondary sources and maintaining databases/data systems
• Create simple data visualizations for internal or external use independently
• Perform ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports
• Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools
• Identifies and analyzes errors and inconsistencies in data and provides timely resolutions
• Translates data results into written reports, or presentations to convey information to management

Education

Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degreeprogramme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

The field of studies must be closely related to the type of Internship you are applying for: Computer Science, Business Administration, or related area.

The Intern is expected to:
• Be computer literate in standard software applications such us MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc..
• Have a keen interest in analytics, information management, visualization, and performance optimization.
• Have a keen interest in using a range of data tools and products, the assistance data analyst process and analyzes data to support the generation of strategic insights.
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Knowledge of SharePoint List and Python is an advantage.
Knowledge of self-service analytics and data visualization with MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools is an advantage.

Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
