The position is located in the Development and Integration team, SAP Development, Technical integration architecture, Fiori/Apps, Delivery Team of the ERP/Umoja project in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance in New York. The Information Systems Officer (SAP Middleware and ChARM implementation) will report to the Chief of Umoja’s Development, Integration and Architecture Team.

Responsibilities
- TECHNICAL INTEGRATION:
(a) Plans and directs systems integration projects of significant importance to the institution, or major components of these complex systems that typically impact critical operations and large or multiple user groups.
(b) Provides expert advice on complex system analysis and design for interfaces using SAP Process Orchestration solution which incorporates Business Process Management, Business Rules Management and Process Integration.
(c) Provides Integration Architecture improvements to existing interfaces and ensures SAP Best Practices in the implementation of all Umoja related interfaces.
(d) Develops detailed specifications, architecture documentation and technical documentation for the new interfaces to Umoja.
e) Participates in the development of risk/benefit analyses associated both with enhancements and with required customizations, which shall be rationalised and generally minimal, and for which full written justifications are to be provided.
(f) Provides specialized advice to functional teams when analyzing requirements for new interfaces flagging pain points and ensuring the functional teams and all other teams are aware of the implications for designing an interface. This requires a very deep understanding of all aspects of integration using Process Orchestration and related products. - IT PLANNING and ChaRM via implementation of SAP Solution Manager:
(a) Creates and maintains all developments and customizations related to SAP Solution Manager accompanied by the respective technical documentations.
(b) Provides solutions with configuration to address project requirements and identify gaps in the functionality of the Solution Manager application for all its modules, namely: ChaRM, Test Suite, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Business Process Monitoring, Solution Documentation and Project Planning.
(c) Issue training materials and detailed technical presentations in the overall context of building up SAP SolMan expertise across the Project, including via knowledge transfer
(d) Implement an approach for overall governance of all FRICEWs across the Umoja system into a single repository using SolDoc, and BPMN processes with Test Suite Integration.
(e) Assist Teams and the ERP’s Release Manager in respect of IT planning using Solution Management’s Cababilities.
(f) Recommend SAP best practices across the project in respect of ‘Application Lifecycle Management’, ensuring proper implementations of Releases and Upgrades in connection. - ARCHITECTURE and METHODOLOGY:
(a) Recommend SAP best practices across the project for Application Lifecycle Management, ensuring proper implementations of Releases and Upgrades.
(b) Implement applicable SAP standards and methodology for all development and architectural aspects of Umoja with a clear focus on Best Practices and minimizing changes to standard SAP functionality, including in respect of integration of non-SAP systems and tools.
(c) Review requirements for each of Umoja’s projects and identify gaps in the functionality of the Solution Manager application in respect of methodology/SAP standards as well as in respect of both project management and monitoring. - PRODUCTION SUPPORT:
(a) Ensures proper upgrades are executed for Solution Manager and Process Orchestration ensuring stability.
(b) Maintains all Umoja Interfaces in Production and ensures defects and changes are implemented per Best Practices.

Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- SAP Certifications on SolMan, Process Orchestration is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, configuration, deployment and maintenance of an SAP-based ERP middleware implementation, including Process Integration, Process Orchestration, Interfaces to non-SAP systems and Solution Management is required.
SAP Process Orchestration 7.5 and Solution Manager 7.2 required
Languages
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
